Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold WarSeason 2 just launched, adding a slew of new content to bothBlack Ops Cold Waras well as theCall of Duty: Warzonebattle royale. While this influx of new content is always a great way to keep fans engaged as well as bring back lapsed players, it also contributes to a growing problem with theCall of Dutygames. The file sizes are ballooning to the point where some players are literally incapable of having bothModern WarfareandBlack Ops Cold Warinstalled at the same time.

Activision acknowledged this problem, pointing out that gamers with a standard 500 GB PlayStation 4 console will likely have to make some space by deleting specific content fromCall of Duty: Modern WarfareorBlack Ops Cold War. ForCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, players can navigate to the File Management menu by clicking in the right stick at the main menu. This will take players to a screen that lets them remove content that they don’t use, like the campaign, multiplayer, or Zombies.

Something similar can be done forCall of Duty: Modern Warfareand theWarzonebattle royale, though the method of getting to the file management screen is a little different. For that game, players need to go to Options in the main menu, then go to the General tab. From here, players can go to Game Installs, and then they are free to delete whatever they don’t use anymore, choosing from campaign, multiplayer, or theSpec Ops co-op mode.

It’s great that there are ways players canreduce theCall of Dutyfile size, but at the same time, it can be frustrating that players can’t have both of their games installed on a single console. Unfortunately, it seems as though theCall of Dutyfile size issue will only continue to get worse as the months go on, so anyone that wants the fullCall of Dutyexperience along with other games will likely need to invest in a storage upgrade of some kind.

While one would think that the storage problems for theCall of Duty: Modern Warfareside of things would have been solved right now, they’re not thanks toWarzonebeing technically part of theModern Warfareinstall. And there are rumors thatCall of Duty: Modern WarfareSeason 7 is on the way, bringing with it new multiplayer maps,Soap as a playable Operator, and more content, which will make that game’s file size even bigger.

Even if theCall of Duty: Modern WarfareSeason 7 rumorsare false, though, theCall of Dutyfile sizes will remain an issue for the foreseeable future.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold Waris out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
