Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold Warfans have been making good use of the game’s gestures, as they serve as a great way to communicate with teammates or show off after a kill. However, aCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold Warfan named altimax98 has discovered that the emotes seem to work even when they should he broken up.
The Redditor discovered this detail while usingSeason 4’s middle finger emote. Attempting to add insult to injury after a baseball bat kill, the player began to do the gesture. However, as they were in the process of extending their finger, they were grabbed from behind by another member of the enemy team. While finishing moves inCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold Warnormally force the victim to stop doing what they were beforehand, it seems like gestures do not follow the same rule.

If gamers watch the Reddit user’s hands instead of the knife, they will see that they are continuing to extend their middle finger as if they were not being executed at all. This is made even clearer once the animation is broken up, as altimax98 finds that the gesture has been completed. Having progressed the entire time they were being taken down, the clip ends with theCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold Warplayerflipping off thier would-be killer’s corpse.
The Redditor wearing one ofCall of Duty’s clown skinsonly make the sequence funnier, and it is hard not to think of all the possibilities that their discovery could open up. Players could slow clap for their opponent as they do a finishing move, clapping before they meet their demise. Likewise, they could use the “Scorpion Shot” gesture to have a drink before they go, downing the beverage as they are finished off. If gestures can be used during other finishers, too, the sky is the limit for clever combinations.
For fans who cannot get enough of this trick, it seems like it is not limited to one game. In the comments, Reddit user jross217 confirmed that this gesture detail exists inCall of Duty: Warzoneas well. Explaining a scenario where they were downed and being executed, the player says that they usedthe popular cigar emoteright before the finisher was started. As such, they were able to smoke before they died, making a straightforward melee kill a whole lot funnier.
While this detail now known by the public, players that know an execution is coming can try to do a gesture first. With marketplace bundles andthe Season 4 battle passoffering plenty of emotes to experiment with, clips like this one could become a lot more common.
