A newCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold Warclip has surfaced that shows a player missing multiple headshots, despite firing from point-blank range. The issue highlights one of several bugs seen since the game’s release last month.
Developer Treyarch’s sixth entry in itsBlack Opsseries officially launched on November 13. The game has since received mixed reviews, with some praising its campaign and others criticizing multiplayer’s lack of depth. TheCall of Dutytitle received its latest update just days ago, which sees the addition of new playlists anda 3v3 Snipers Only mode. However, it appears the update didn’t fix a particular problem: hit detection.

In aCall of Duty:Black Ops Cold Wargameplay clip posted to Reddit, user shabooga628 equips Akimbo Magnums while playing on Nuketown. Sprinting into one of the buildings, the player rounds a corner to find a camped enemy. Shabooga628 then fires off a round of the close-range weapon straight at the opponent’s head, only to have nothing happen. Upon realization the hit didn’t land, the player turns around to get in another four headshots. Only the last one registers, but by that point, the camper had spotted him and gunned him down instantly.
While every gun inBlack Ops Cold Warhas varying specs when it comes to things like weight and recoil patterns, a gun not working entirely is enough to frustrate any gamer. Unfortunately, the clip isn’t an isolated incident, and doesn’t appear to be limited to the Magnum. Reports ofproblems withCold War’s hit detectionhave been circulating for weeks, affecting a wide range of different weapons and modes. It appears Treyarch has yet to create a solution for this issue, as the problem has seemingly persisted despite the game’s recent update.
While the issue of hit detection is an understandably frustrating one, it isn’t the only thing thatCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold Warplayers are less than happy with. In addition to ongoing ping and tick-rate problems, many gamers also feel theCall of Dutytitle’s split-screenhas major issues of its own; lobby errors, severe lag, and invisible players, just to name a few.
