Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxyhas a lot in common with theMarvelfilms since the game is also quite funny. While players used to the movies might be put off by some of the redesigns of the characters as well as their voice work, Groot and Drax look and act almost identical to their film versions.

That said, Rocket’s beard might upset fans and Peter overall might be the hardest pill to swallow. The only character that stands out as perhaps better than the MCU version is Gamora. Regardless of how someone felt about the game’s trailers,Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxyhas to be played to be believed. These choice lines are just a few of the great moments inthis lengthy adventure.
Please note there will be vague spoilers throughout.
10“Sell Gamora’s Trinkets To Fin Fang Foom…It Is Brilliant”
Early on in the game, the gang is trying to figure out how they are going to come up with the credits in order to pay off the Nova Corps. Drax is insistent on capturing Fin Fang Foom for Lady Hellbender while Rocket wants to sell Gamora’s figures.
Then Groot suggestscombining the two ideas, which is what leads to Drax saying the above quote. If that actually happened,Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxywould be the game of the millennium.

9“If He Calls Us Over, I’m Done”
One ofthe best thingsaboutMarvel’s Guardians of the Galaxyis that everyone in the party is chatty. If players venture off from the main path, the others will comment. This quote comes from Rocket if players explore for scrap on Lady Hellbender’s planet.
The full quote continues on to say,“Whoa whoa whoa guys. There’s this totally sweet pile of crap on the ground. It’s so interesting.”Rocket is obviously being sarcastic, playing the role of Peter there.

8“You Can Go On Your Creepy Temple Of Doom Way”
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxyis not a scary game but the empty Nova Corps facility does have some spooky vibes. Eventually, the team is able to find some soldiers but they are acting weird.

That’s whenPeter pops offthis terrific line, calling back to the classicIndiana Jonesfilm.Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxyis all about a religious cult obsessed with rocks so the joke here fits perfectly well with this game’s story.
7“That Is What Your Mother Said”
One of the best things about Drax ishis literal nature. ThroughoutMarvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, and the movies, his character is shown to try sarcasm and normal Earth jokes.
Drax says this line when Peter is reading off the Kylosian’s case file on the Nova Corps computer. The scene gets better when Rocket replies, “It’s great because his mother is dead.” It’s a dark joke for the game but it works well.

6“Thanks For Clearing That Up”
One of the bigger mysteries inMarvel’s Guardians of the Galaxyis what happened to the Nova Corps. More importantly, Peter wants to find Ko-Rel and Nikki. Eventually, the group tracks them down to Raker’s ship wherein Nikki is shown to be a towering goddess.
When Peter asks what happened to her mother, Nikki says Ko-Rel is simply inside her. That’swhen Rocket saysthe following line as a bit of sarcasm because it’s a rather cryptic reply from Nikki.

5“Noooo, Gubbins!”
When the group first gets to the cult ship, Raker takes them on a long elevator ride. In the middle of this conversation, Rocket sneaks off to hack Raker’s droid behind him. Players have to distract Raker while Rocket is doing this in order for him to successfully take it over.

Eventually, this droid, which Rocket nicknamed Gubbins, joins the party for a short while. Unfortunately, the robot explodes, resulting in this terrific reaction from Rocket. He really wanted Gubbins to be the sixth member of the team.
4“Hi Guys”
That may not seem like a particularly funny line when seen out of content but the way in which Mantis delivers it is spot on. This all goes down on the mystery planet Drax takes the gang to after he becomes a cult supporter.
Mantis pops out of nowhere, says the line, and then effortlessly jumps on Drax’s back in order to calm him down. Overall Mantis’ character is better realized inMarvel’s Guardians of the Galaxythan in the movies and this act is proof.

3“Pretty Sure We’re Married Now”
Peter says this lineright after Gamoradelivers one of the darkest revelations in the game. Another mystery inMarvel’s Guardians of the Galaxyis in regard to Nebula’s whereabouts. It turns out she is dead and Gamora is the one that killed her.
Gamora is flawed, like the rest of the group, so Drax brings everyone in and says that they accept Gamora for who she is. That’s when Peter says this line. The team really is like an old married couple but one with five partners.

2“I Heard He Wears Purple Shorts”
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxyis full of surprises but having Drax’s earlier idea about fighting Fin Fang Foom come true is a wonder. It might be the best boss battle in the game as the scale is off the charts. Rocket says this line about Fin Fang Foom when they land on his planet.
This is not just a random joke as the character did wear purple shorts for a time in the comics. The beast doesn’t have them in the game though.

1“And Who Is This Precious Little Candy In His Golden Wrapper?”
This is said by Lady Hellbender in regard to Adam Warlock. This happens in the fake ending of the game when players get to strut their stuff on the catwalk after defeating Raker. The way in which Lady Hellbender says “wrapper” is especially funny since she emphasizes it.
Lady Hellbender is one of the low-key best characters inMarvel’s Guardians of the Galaxybecause of how thirsty she is. Lady Hellbender is not afraid to show it either. The scene ends with Nikki replying, “Ew, gross.”
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxywas released on July 16, 2025 and is available onPC,PS4,PS5,Switch,Xbox One, andXbox Series X.
