Summary
Battle can be tough in thePokemonuniverse, but with these Pokemon by the player’s side, it doesn’t have to be. When facing off in this world, it’s important that the player makes strategic decisions when forming their party; some players take this to extreme levels and max out the stats for their Pokemon to make themas undefeatable as possible.
Part of this strategy lies in type matchups, so it’s important to have a diverse team that’s prepared for whatever aPokemongame might throw one’s way. These stats arebased on the Gen 9 Pokedex, and this list excludes legendaries and special/limited edition Pokemon so that anyone has the ability to find and use them. These Pokemon share great stats, abilities, and powerful moves and have been chosen according to such. For those looking to prioritize offence, these are thebest offensive Pokemon of each type.

This slothful Pokemon may not seem like it can do a ton of damage, but with an astronomical max attack score of 460, Slaking is capable of dealing devastating damage when used strategically. Its Truant ability can be annoying in battle, but it has incredible power that causes it to rank among some of the toughest legendaries; with a score that high, it more than makes up for its laziness.
Ursaluna is another fantastic Normal Pokemon that has an incredible max attack score of 416. Ursaluna has a separate(really awesome-looking) Bloodmoon formthat can grant it the ability Mind’s Eye, which allows it to hit Ghost type Pokemon, and it also significantly bolsters its special attack, raising it from 207 to 405. Players do, however, have to jump through some hoops to get their hands on its Bloodmoon form.

Breloom may not be the first ‘mon that comes to mind when thinking of powerful Grass-types, but its other type, Fighting, significantly bolsters thismushroom-like cutie’sattack and makes it one of the more fierce Grass-types out there. Breloom boasts a mighty max attack score of 394, and its special attack isn’t too shabby, either, sitting at a nice, respectable 240. Its Seed Bomb has the potential to inflict great damage on its enemies, and it has a slew of powerful Fighting-type moves at its disposal.
Exeggutor (specifically the Grass/Psychic form) is somewhat of an oddball in the world ofPokemon. However, this many-faced creature ranks pretty high among the toughest Grass-types; its max special attack of 383 makes it a formidable foe in combat, and its abilities can be pretty useful, seeing as it either has a chance to create another berry after consuming one or boost its stats in sunlight.

Scizor is an excellent choice of Bug-type with a powerful attack score of 394. If players are willing to go the extra mile, they are able to evolve this bitingly powerful insect into Kleavor, which takes this stat way up to 405; as if that weren’t enough, this Pokemon has a hidden ability called Sharpness, which boosts the power of its slashing moves by a hefty 50 percent. Kleavor, a variant evolution of Scyther, is another powerhouse to add to one’s party if they are able to obtain it.
For the player who prefers special attack, it is a worthy investment to see if one can obtain a Larvesta and evolve it. Volcarona sports a mighty max score 405 in special attack, and has a plethora of impressive moves to destroy opponents with. From Bug Buzz to Hurricane and Fire Blast, this Pokemon has the ability to learn moves that can level the battlefield and bring victory. Chandelure, like Flareon, is a Pokemon with incredible potential. With its max special attack score sitting at a staggering 427, Chandelure has power enough to cause it to rank amongmany legendary Pokemon. Like Flareon, Chandelure can also have the Flash Fire ability, allowing it to store up even more power than it already has. If one gets lucky, Chandelure can also have the hidden ability, Infiltrator, and it will completely ignore the defensive moves of its opponents like Light Screen and Reflect.

Electivire is a mighty Pokemon with a shocking max attack score of 379, and it has some pretty intimidating abilities to match. It has the ability to learn the TM move Supercell Slam, and it can naturally learn Thunder Punch as well as Thunder - two very strong moves available to Electric-types; when Electivire uses any of these charged-up moves, it’s almost guaranteed to be devastating.
Anotherpowerful Electric-type is Magnezonewith its max special attack score of 394. It has the potential to have a couple of pretty useful abilities, like Sturdy (which can always come in handy in a pinch) and its hidden ability, Analytic, which boosts its attack power if it moves last in combat. In its normal form, Palafin just looks like a cute little guy, but when its ability, Zero to Hero, activates, it becomes a monster in combat as its attack score skyrockets to 460, and it adopts its much larger, tougher Hero form. Palafin can be an absolute fiend in battle, delivering intense blow after blow to its opponents without even breaking a sweat.
Gyarados may be an oldie, but it’s still a goldie. With a max attack stat of 383, Gyarados is a powerful Pokemon with an equally powerful move set in its arsenal. Its hidden ability - Moxie - allows it to further beef up its attack stat with each KO’d Pokemon, and it can unleash a crazy powerful Aqua Tail in longer combats.

Baxcalibur is a fearsome opponent to face in battle given its max attack stat of 427 and its incredibly useful Thermal Exchange ability, which makes it immune to being burned and boosts its attack stat when hit with a Fire-type move. This hulking Ice/Dragon type has the potential to be an absolute tank in combat, and it has the looks to match that claim.
For those who prefer a smaller, cuter Pokemon, Glaceon is an excellent choice for an Ice-type. Despite its small, slight appearance, it packs a considerable punch with its max special attack stat sitting at a pretty 394. With that high of a special attack, its Blizzard move can inflict massive amounts of damage. Plus, if it has the Ice Body ability, it regains some health for each turn fought in the snow.

This mountain of a Pokemon has an incredible max attack stat of 416 and a rocky, tough exterior that reflects its beefy defense of 394. Rhyperior can learn a move called Rock Wrecker, which sports a generous damage score of 150, and completely levels opponents with great strength when the move is used. Pitting Rhyperior against Electric-types is a great strategy if it happens to have the Lightning Rod ability, as it will absorb all Electric-type moves, take no damage, and it even raises the user’s special attack stat.
Exadrill is anotherexcellent choice of Ground-type Pokemon; its move, Drill Run, is fantastic, and it can be really difficult to beat in battle when it learns the move Dig. This Pokemon has an excellent max attack of 405, and it only gets better when Excadrill fights in sandstorms due to its abilities. This Pokemon has deadly potential with its move set, which includes devastating attacks such as Earthquake and Fissure.

Tried and true, Metagross is undoubtedly one of the best Steel-type Pokemon that one can bring into battle. Its max attack score is 405, and it prevents that from being lowered via its ability, Clear Body, which prevents outside forces from lowering any of its stats. Metagross can learn the move Meteor Mash, which can further boost its attack stat as well as inflict a lot of pain on opponents.
Gholdengo is a newer Pokemon that changed a lot when it first entered the battlefield. It has an impressive max special attack of 401. Despite that score being pretty hefty, that’s not this Pokemon’s best feature; its ability is. Good as Gold makes Gholdengo completely immune to opponents’ status moves - an advantage that almost feels unfair given its impressive prowess in battle. Adding this cute littlestack of ghostly coinsto a party is guaranteed to be absolutely golden.
