Disney’s A Christmas Carolquickly became a worldwide Christmas classic after its release in 2009. Dickens' story has inspired multiple film adaptations ever since the first one in 1938. And while a 1938 movie may be a lot to swallow for little kids, this Disney classic put a refreshing spin on the classic story.

Ebenezer Scrooge (Jim Carrey) thinks Christmas is all a joke and plans on spending the holidays in misery. After encountering four ghosts (one of his late business partners, and one of his past, his present, and his future), his bitterness begins to transform. Although his heart doesn’t grow three sizes that day, the transformation is still heartwarming and beloved.

The Nightmare Before Christmasis not everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s one of the biggest classics for the holiday season. Whether it’s Halloween or Christmas (or just a random Thursday night), this movie will never seize to bring a smile to everyone’s face.

The movie’s style and plot may be a little too scary for smaller children, butTim Burton’s recognizable styleis no stranger to adults of the audience. It’s dark and humorous, has a heartwarming plot development, and most importantly, is full of Danny Elfman songs which are bound to cause a week-long case of the earworms.

While You Were Sleepingis one of the bestholiday chick flicksever. Beloved by many, it’s bound to end up on the movie marathon list annually. Lucy Moderatz (Sandra Bullock) finds herself once again amid the holiday season, without a family to celebrate it with.

Lucy plans on spending the holidays alone and takes on the Christmas shift in her job as a transit worker. During her shift, her long-time crush ends up falling between the tracks, saved by Lucy. In the hospital, the family believes she’s his girlfriend and invites her to spend the holidays at their place. And the rest is history.

Watching them all together as an after-dinner special, eating the leftovers of the day, with torn-up wrapping paper everywhere is the perfect night.

The original movie series is a nostalgic favorite of many adults and an amazing experience for children watching it for the first time. People can simply never get enough of these classics. And thankfully, they’re all available on Disney+.
