Summary
Larian Studios introduces its first hotfix of 2024 intoBaldur’s Gate 3, a major update that fixes plenty of blockers, bugs, and makes a ton of quality of life changes. Following a lengthy period on Early Access,Baldur’s Gate 3launched in 2023 to critical acclaim and saw plenty of success throughout the rest of the year thanks to strong word of mouth and launches on additional platforms like the PS5 and Xbox Series X. In fact,Baldur’s Gate 3managed to dominate The Game Awards 2023, taking home a variety of awards including the coveted Game of the Year by beating out some huge games likeThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Even with all the successes and time in Early Access, Larian Studios remains incredibly active behind the scenes by continuing to improve the game through various updates and hotfixes. While fans are hopeful for more substantial content coming in the near future, Larian has continued to add in quality of life improvements, bug fixes, and evenhighly requestedBaldur’s Gate 3features like a Magic Mirrorto allow players to change some of their character’s general appearance, voice, or pronouns. With the start of 2024, Larian has kicked things off with Hotfix 16, a huge update that brings further improvements and fixes to the game.

The heftyBaldur’s Gate 3update seems to tackle tons of bugs, quest blockers, and other nagging issues that have been impacting players. One of the bigger changes Hotfix 16 has made relates toquest items like Minthara’s Luteand how players manage them. Following this update, players now have full access to certain quest-related items anytime they need them, even if the item in question is placed in a camp chest or is inside the inventory of a not-active party member.
Alongside theBaldur’s Gate 3quest item change, other highlights of Hotfix 16 include fixes to a variety of crashes, bugs, and other question progression blockers. Cross-saves no longer sync modded saves, Waypoint lists now have categories that group them by location, and the endgame recieved a few quality of life updates as well.
One issue that doesn’t seem to be addressed within this hotfix is a recently found player-friendly exploit that not only gives them tons of experience, but access to some of the best armor much earlier than intended. One user found a way to essentially knock out the devil character Raphael in Act 1, and prevent allies from being alerted while the character is killed in camp. Following a specific strategy,Baldur’s Gate 3players can loot the Helldusk Armoras well as huge XP boost to make the game easier than normal.
