Summary
Larian Studios released yet another hotfix update forBaldur’s Gate 3which bumps the game’s version number to 4.1.1.3636828. While the Belgian developer labeled the patch as Hotfix 3, this is actually the fourth such update that it debuted sinceBaldur’s Gate 3released to glowing reviewson August 3.
The numbering discrepancy stems from the fact thatBaldur’s Gate 3was recently in need of an emergency updateafter it came to light that some players' story databases were too small to store all of their choices and interactions. Larian promptly remedied the problem with the incrementally numbered Hotfix 2.1.

With that out of the way, the developer has now set its sights on other issues that the players have been reporting since the game’s release. The company’s latestBaldur’s Gate 3update thus fixes over 200 bugs and glitches, in addition to addressing some critical technical problems with the game, including a handful of obscure crashes and feature blockers. Larian’s newly released patch notes saw the developer thank its fans for the continued assistance that they have been providing with their detailed bug reports, allowing the studio to iron out a wide variety of issues in a speedy fashion.
While the new update primarily focuses on fixing bugs, it also includes two notable feature additions. One of them is the Blue Behir Dice that has now been permanently made available to all players. Changing the color of the D20 dice to this or any other variant can be done from the skill check screen by either clicking the settings icon in the bottom-left corner of the display or pressing the left thumbstick if playing with a controller. The second novelty is thatScratch the dog inBaldur’s Gate 3is now sniffing out treasure digging spots all on his own following the latest hotfix.
Though Larian recently vowed that one of theupcomingBaldur’s Gate 3updates will address the game’s credits controversythat saw some of its many localizers left uncredited for their work, that issue still hasn’t been remedied. As per the studio’s previous statement, the complete list of credits is only planned to be patched into the game with the release of its first major update, whose development currently seems to be taking a backseat in favor of critical hotfixes.
AllBaldur’s Gate 3patches that the developer released to date should be included in the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S ports of the game from day one. As was the case with most of Larian’s past multi-platform titles, the upcoming console versions ofBaldur’s Gate 3will likely always be up-to-date with the PC one.
Baldur’s Gate 3is available now on PC and launches September 6 on PS5, with an Xbox Series X/S port also in development.
