ASkyrimmodder has released a hilarious mod that “fixes” one of the game’s biggest problems. Players have been looking to fixSkyrim’s issues since its release in 2011, but this mod takes that mantra to another level.
The best thing about theSkyrimmodsout there, is the enormous variety in content and scale. For some players, the most important thing will be small quality-of-life changes, and there are huge amounts of them available. For others, graphics will take center stage, with the game allowing for mods that make the game look like it was released in 2023. Others just want the game to be completely silly, and that’s okay too - it’s been a long time since the original Thomas the Tank Engine mod was released forSkyrim, but there have been plenty of other mods in that vein since. This mod fits right into that.

The mod is called “Ultra Immersive Horses,” and replacesSkyrim’s horses with a Mazda RX-7. That’s right - player’s no longer have to waste time traversingSkyrim’s harsh lands on horseback, when, as Nexus Mods author IAmNotSimon describes it, “a greatly superior way of transportation” is available. It even includes custom sounds to increase immersion. The mod has been released as a fun way to celebrate April Fools' Day, but there are plenty of realmods that overhaulSkyrim’s horsesfor players looking to refresh one of the game’s most criticized features.
Complete overhauls are extremely popular in theSkyrimmodding scene. While this mod is clearly an April Fools' joke, this mod thatoverhaulsSkyrim’s bandit gameplayisn’t, and provides a great way for gamers to freshen up a core feature of the game. With the enormous amount of mods available forSkyrim, there’s definitely room for a few joke mods to lighten up the mood, especially on April Fools' Day. There might even be players out there that genuinely use the mod. Modding is a personal experience, andSkyrimcan become anything players want it to be. If that means driving a Mazda RX-7 through Riverwood, then so be it.
Fans ofThe Elder Scrollswill be hopingSkyrim’s sequel offers the same modding versatility as its predecessors. Not much is confirmed aboutThe Elder Scrolls 6so far, but it wouldn’t be the same if modders weren’t able to mod in a Mazda RX-7 for a cheap laugh. There are plenty of fans who believeBethesda should take influence fromSkyrimforThe Elder Scrolls 6. While this is broadly true and usually a good thing, “Ultra Immersive Horses” should probably not be a part of that conversation. Still, it’s genuinely exciting to see what modders will come up with in future titles, after theirSkyrimtrack record was so strong.
Skyrimis available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
