Nintendo has released severalAnimal Crossingtitles over the years, but none garnered as much attention asAnimal Crossing: New Horizons, which hit new sales levels for the series. OneAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsfan has decided to celebrate the latest installment by baking adorable macarons based on characters from the Nintendo Switch game.
Reddit user Juliathempdg recently posted three images showing their baked macarons that share the likeness with a trio of characters prominently featured inAnimal Crossing: New Horizons. The two flavors of macarons are made to look like Tom Nook’snephews Timmy and Tommy, who have joined him in eachAnimal Crossinggame, and his assistant Isabelle. Going beyond aesthetically reflecting theAnimal Crossing: New Horizonscharacters with high attention to detail, the flavors of the macarons also match their in-game personalities.

A duo of chocolate hazelnut macarons is bundled together as cherries are inAnimal Crossing: New Horizonswith a green vine-like icing conjoining macarons that resemble the twins fromNew Horizons' Nook’s CrannyTimmy and Tommy. An even more intricately detailed Isabelle is effectively represented atop a fittingly yellow peach jam and vanilla Anglaise buttercream. Juliathempdg also highlights three other types of macarons in their photos, with one looking like a peach from theAnimal Crossingseries and the other two sharing a simple design in yellow and pink.
Isabelle is one of fewAnimal Crossing: New Horizonscharacters that isn’t strictly limited to theAnimal Crossingfranchise, as she has appeared inSuper Smash Bros. UltimateandMario Kart 8 Deluxe. Timmy and Tommy Nook are represented inSuper Smash Bros. Ultimateas well as part of Villager and Isabelle’s Final Smash moves in which they encase the target in a building that they swiftly construct. Because Isabelle and the Nook twins have been prominently featured in recentAnimal Crossinggames, Juliathempdg may be making macarons sharing the same likeness in celebration of future titles.

Juliathempdg stated that they started baking macarons during the pandemic, and manyAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsfans have applauded their quick ability to make them look like Nintendo characters. The inspiration to tie Timmy and Tommy together as if they’re cherries came from Juliathempdg’s desire to incorporate another fruit element beyond the peach macarons that look as if they just fell out of anAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsfruit tree. While someAnimal Crossingfans have expressed interest in buying theNew Horizons-inspired macarons, Juliathempdg is currently just baking them for friends and family, and to further their passion for baking.
