The first five episodes do a great job of showing her relationships with the people in her life, from her husband to her publicist. Siobhan has some hilarious quotes, like when she gives Anna advice after Anna passes out while attending an awards show:
“We are going to pull a Wilde card. As in Olivia Wilde. Don’t mention what happened and wait until everyone forgets slash low-key gaslight the people that do ask and make them think that they’re the problem. Because, you know, sexism.”

While there are some moments that rival horror movies, like Anna taking care of a creepy raccoon and throwing up tacks in “Preech,” Anna also hopes to win awards and get roles. It was clever to make Anna an actress because the season examines the steep price of fame.
As author Danielle Rollins (who goes by the pen name Danielle Valentine, among others) said in an interview withVariety:
“There’s a very specific discomfort, symptoms and horror of what a typical pregnancy can be. I’d been a body horror novelist for 10 years. I got my start writing teen exorcism books, so I have history with that. I thought, if I can do one thing, I can describe this very visceral, painful, oftentimes gruesome experience in a way that other people who’ve tackled this subject couldn’t.”
