The world features huge canyons, winding rivers, and large vistas, with three neighborhoods for players to travel between: Rider’s Glen, New Appaloosa, and Galloping Gulch (alongside a few secret locations for players to discover). Horses are obviously the highlight of the new pack. Much like cats and dogs, horses are customizable members of the household who can be rescued, bought, or bred. They can becustomized in Create-A-Simwith a variety of tack, with there being over 30 horse breeds to choose from. Horses can have up to 3 traits, while players can also increase their skill levels in agility, jumping, endurance, and temperament. Sims themselves can level up their horse-riding skill and compete in a variety of horse competitions in Chestnut Ridge.
Chestnut Ridge itself is filled with lots from farmhouse-inspired cottages to Colorado-inspired mansions, with large lots for players to build their own ranch. Sims will be able to own not only horses, but also purchase miniature goats and sheep. These critters are not only cute companions, though, as they eat weeds and bugs to help with gardening. They can also be sheared and milked for Simoleons if players also havethe ‘Cottage Living’ expansion pack. For Sims who find looking after their ranch to be too much work, they can also hire a farmhand using the town’s Community Board to help out.
Besides caring for animals, Sims can also participate in nectar-making. Harvested fruits can be crushed by Sims to turn into Nectar, which can either be kept or aged to increase its value. When nectar is finished, it can be placed in a nectar rack to be stored and displayed. Nectar can either be drunk from the bottle or poured to be shared amongst multiple Sims. The pack is also coming with a variety of western-themed Create-A-Sim items, the new ‘Rancher’ and ‘Horse Lover’ traits, as well as the new ‘Championship Rider’ and ‘Expert Nectar-Maker’ aspirations.
While horses are the focal point of the pack,The Sims 4’s Horse Ranch packfurther includes new Country music and line dancing, new western build items and decor, Native American-inspired recipes, and more, creating an exciting experience for players.
