Gargoyleswas originally developed and published in-house byDisney Interactiveback in 1995, and released in November of that year. The 2D side-scrolling action platformer came at the height of theGargoylesfandom, as the animated series ran from 1994 to 1997.Gargoyles Remastered wasannounced in 2022 during the Disney and Marvel showcase. The trailer released by Disney Games and Empty Clip Studios featured a dramatic voiceover by Keith David (the original voice ofGargoylesprotagonist Goliath) overtop footage of gameplay highlighting the new features to be expected when the game releases this October.

Disney’s Latest Retro Game Remaster
Following the release of theDisney Classic Games Collectionthat featured ports of retro Disney classicsDisney’s Aladdin,Disney’s The Lion King, andDisney’s The Jungle Book, Gargoyles Remasteredseeks to provide everything fans loved about those ports and more. Like theDisney Classic Games Collection,Gargoyles Remasteredwill bring a 16-bit classic into full HD. However, unlike the games in the previous collection,Gargoyles Remasteredwill also feature brand-new graphics in a more modern art style as an option that players can instantly swap between much in the style ofDiablo 2: ResurrectedorHalo 2: Anniversary.
Another key feature added toGargoyles Remasteredis the ability to rewind gameplay at any time. The instant rewind feature allows players to quickly revert their game to a previous state without having to do a full reset. This feature is especially useful for challenging platforming segments or difficult boss battles. The rewind feature was included in the previousDisney Classic Games Collection,among other recent retro game ports.
In addition to updated visuals,Gargoyles Remasteredwill also come with a freshly remastered soundtrack and audio. However, fans of the original need not worry because this game will also include the original 1995 soundtrack as an option. Players will be able to swap between the two soundtracks as they please. Of course, with either soundtrack, the game will stillfeature the iconic voice lines of Keith David as Goliath.
Gargoyles Remasteredwill have full achievement/ trophy support when it launches this October. Achievement hunters can look forward to unlocking them all on the platform of their choosing, either digital orthrough Limited Run Games' physical release. Limited Run Games is offering several physical versions of the game each containing exclusive merchandise and collector’s items. Its “Classic Edition” includes a region-free copy of the game on any platform, a special SteelBook case, a unique VHS tape box, and what is being called a “Gargoyles RemasteredWhite Retro Plastic VHS Clamshell Case”. It is also offering a “Collector’s Edition” that includes everything from the “Classic Edition” plus a hing-style box that plays a voice line from Keith David as Goliath, a limited edition NECA Goliath action figure, a poster, enamel pin, and certificate of authenticity.
Loaded with modern features and classic 90s style,Gargoyles Remasteredwilljoin the list of revived retro classicswhen it releases this October. Fans of the series won’t have to wait much longer before entering the age of gargoyles once again.
