Summary
Disney-themed life simulatorDisney Dreamlight Valleyrecently announced the upcoming “A Rift in Time” Expansion Pass, which will launch on December 5th. Both the pass and the new “Gold” and “Cozy” editions will add new adorable animal companions for players to befriend. WhileDisney Dreamlight Valleycurrently offers dozens of pets for players to interact with, “A Rift in Time” and future passes will hopefully expand that number significantly.
Celestial Sea Turtle (Founder’s Pack Deluxe)
Flowery Capybara (Gold Edition)
Currently, players can adopt a number of animal companions found in the Valley’s various biomes by feeding them their favorite foods over the course of several days. In addition, each timed Star Path features at least one new animal companion, while others can be purchased via the Premium Store using Moonstone currency. There are also bonus pets unlocked when purchasing certain special editions ofDisney Dreamlight Valley, such as theFounder’s Pack.
Monkeys Like Abu
A Rift in Timewill introduce characters from the filmAladdintoDisney Dreamlight Valley, specifically the villainous vizier Jafar. With the game taking players to desert and jungle settings, it is the perfect opportunity for monkey pets to be added. The pass' trailer showed black, white, and gray monkeys who could potentially become companions. Aladdin’s best friend, Abu, could also debut as a special monkey pet, perhaps even able to help players collect items.
Parrots Like Iago
A recent Star Path allowedDreamlight Valleyplayers to unlock a pirate-themed parrot companion. Upcoming Expansion Passes could add more parrot colors, especially as the game is currently short on winged companions with onlyDreamlight Valley’s Ravens and Sunbirdsto choose from. Jafar’s parrot companion Iago could perhaps be tempted away from the dark side and encouraged to join the player instead as a new pet. While current animal companions are generally silent, the talkative Iago could make a unique addition to the roster.
Frogs
A sneak peek atupcomingDreamlight Valleycontent for 2024revealed that Princess Tiana fromThe Princess and the Frogwill be moving to the Valley. Her arrival could be the perfect opportunity to add frog companions. Possibly, Tiana and Prince Naveen’s frog forms could even appear as companions, similar to how Ariel and Ursula are able to switch between their land-walking and sea-dwelling appearances in the game. A wizard as powerful as Merlin could likely whip up a more temporary transformation spell than the one from the film.
The Nightmare Before Christmas' Zero
Another character coming toDisney Dreamlight Valleyin the near future is the long-awaited Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King himself fromThe Nightmare Before Christmas.Hopefully, the Pumpkin King will bring his beloved ghost dog, Zero, with him. There’s currently a Zero-inspired “Ghostly Fox” companion who can be purchased in the Premium Shop using Moonstones, but that does not mean there is no room for the original Zero to make himself at home in the Valley. He would fit in perfectly with the large amount of Halloween-themed clothing and decor added duringDreamlight Valley’srecentEnchanted Adventure update.
Monster Pets
Monsters, Inc.will joinToy Story, Ratatouille, and otherPixar filmsrepresented in the game when Mike Wazowski moves to Dreamlight Valley in a planned 2024 update. Hopefully, the cheerful one-eyed monster will bring with him some more monstrous pets for players to adopt. Currently, the game is fairly limited to real-life creatures with some fantastical color variants. Monstrous pets could change this, allowing creatures with multiple eyes or legs, spines, wings, and more. Perhaps players could even design their own custom mix-and-match monster animal companions in the future.
